A community for curious, playful, connected families to meet and grow with sport

At Coach from the Heart, we believe in a holistic approach to sports education. Our philosophy is grounded in mutual dignity and respect, and a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. We believe that movement can be a powerful tool for personal growth, community building, and social change.

Our mission is to create a community of athletes, coaches, educators and parents who share these values and are committed to creating a positive and inclusive sports culture.

Building secure attachment is a crucial aspect of human development, as it shapes our ability to form relationships and connect with others throughout our lives. To foster secure attachment, it is important to create an environment that is safe, nurturing, and responsive to the needs of the child. This can be achieved by ensuring that caregivers are prepared adults who have a deep sense of self-awareness and are able to provide consistent and loving care.

In order to create a secure environment, caregivers need to be able to provide a predictable and stable routine for the child. This can include providing a safe and comfortable physical space, establishing regular routines for feeding, sleeping, and play, and responding promptly and appropriately to the child’s needs. When caregivers are able to provide this type of environment, children are better able to develop a sense of trust and security, which lays the foundation for healthy relationships in the future.

Becoming the change … Self-awareness is also a key component of building secure attachment. Caregivers who are able to recognize their own emotions and reactions are better equipped to respond to the needs of the child in a calm and nurturing manner. By modelling healthy emotional regulation, caregivers can help children learn to manage their own emotions and develop a sense of self-control. This, in turn, helps to build the child’s self-esteem and sense of security, which is essential for healthy attachment.

Building secure attachment requires a holistic approach, considering the needs of both the child and the caregiver. By creating a safe environment, preparing adults who are aware and responsive, and promoting dignity and respect, we can help children develop healthy relationships and essential social-emotional skills to succeed.

We believe that every child has the right to participate in sports, regardless of their background or ability. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where all children can thrive and develop their full potential.

What’s the plan? We will collaborate online with families from different countries using the effective Positive Discipline program. This program is based on Adlerian principles, helps develop emotional intelligence, and focuses on finding solutions by addressing the beliefs that drive behavior. By doing so, we can break free and create the positive change we desire.

What does it look like?

Last night…wow! I’ve done plenty of training that got me to think about things, but never anything that got me to feel it.”

― Father with psychology PHD, UK

If you are involved in Montessori education, you will love this approach – Positive Discipline. It should be a core part of every classroom management program in Montessori teacher training. It complements the teaching method just like Vegemite complements lightly buttered toast, according to one school leader!

Becoming a “prepared adult” takes time and nurturing relationships. Our monthly mentor groups offer a supportive space for growth, allowing you to progress at your own pace.
